PAIR OF LARGE CINNABAR LACQUER 'GARLIC HEAD' VASES, China, late 18th/early 19th century

With an ovoid body and bulb-shaped head, they are finely carved on the body with four reserves in which there are characters in different landscapes; the bottom is all carved with lotus flowers and foliage, a beautiful Greek fret divides the body from the neck.
