The painting, which retains its silk damask frame, depicts the four-armed bodhisattva Avalokitesvara in his Shadakshari Lokeshvara form. Here he is depicted standing with his main hands brought to his heart, while his secondary hands hold symbolic attributes. The Bodhisattva is richly dressed, adorned with anklets, bracelets, necklaces and earrings, his face serene with heavy lidded eyes under a foliate tiara.
