A BLUE AND WHITE DISH, China, Kangxi period (1661-1722)

d. 27 cm

Magnificently painted in underglaze blue with a mountainous landscape within a powder-blue reserve, it is inscribed with a poem lauding the magnificence of mountains and rivers. On the reverse side, it is decorated on the border with stylised leaves and bears the six-character apocryphal mark of the Chenghua Emperor in the centre of the base within a double circle.
