A FAMILLE ROSE HU-SHAPED VASE, China, Republic Period (1912-1949)

Of archaistic shape with elephant-shaped handles, on the body it is well decorated with characters in a garden and the scene is enclosed between two bands with floral motifs in iron red, one on the foot and one on the rim; in the centre of the base it bears the apocryphal seal square mark in overglaze blue a six-character cover of the Qianlong Emperor. It rests on his wooden stand.
