A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF BUDDHA IN BUMISPARSHAMUDRA, Tibet, 18th century

Finely modelled, it depicts the Buddha Shakyamuni seated in padmasana, in the lotus position, on a double lotus flower base while with his right hand in bhumisparshamudra (stretched forward) he takes the earth to witness his oath. There are traces of red pigment on the lips, while on the head, between the curls, there are traces of azurite blue.
