A HUGE CLOISONNÉ INCENSE BURNER, China, 19th century

The powerful copper object stands on four long legs protruding from the jaws of four lion heads; the body is fully decorated with floral motifs intertwined with stylised qilongs and the two large handles depict bats and lotus flowers; the lid, culminating in an embossed knob in the shape of a five-clawed dragon in the clouds, has four well-embossed reserves depicting stylised qilongs and lotus scrolls, immersed in a decoration that echoes that of the body.
