A PORCELAIN SEAL, China, Republic period (1912-1949)

Completely covered in a yellow glaze, it is well modelled in the shape of a lion resting on a tall parallelepiped, the seal bears the characters Cai Chengxun (蔡成勋印).

Provenance: from a distinguished Italian collection.


Catalogue notes:

Cai Chengxun (1873-1946) was a prominent Chinese military figure. Among the various important positions he held, he was Chief of the Army in May 1921, from which he resigned at the end of the same year.
