Of lobed form with twelve petals, the box and lid are superbly decorated on the outside with rosettes, a design also known as 'posy', in the famille rose colours , the inside is covered with a beautiful turquoise glaze; in the centre of the base it bears the four-character square mark in red of the Qianlong Emperor.

This type of pattern was highly appreciated at the Imperial court in the 18th century and several examples can be found in important museums.
