A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF A SEATED BUDDHA, Tibet, 18th century

h cm 16.3

Finely decorated represents the iconographic form of the historical Buddha sitting in padmasana, on a double lotus flower base. With the hand raised at shoulder level, the Buddha makes the gesture of argument or teaching (vitarkamudra). He wears a softly draped robe on her left shoulder that falls into rounded folds on the base. The expression of the face is serene, the hair is curled in curls that surround the cranial protuberance, made like a bun (usnisha), while between the eyes appears another typical attribute: a tuft of white hair, made as a point between the eyebrows (urn).
