A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF AVALOKITESVARA, Tibet, 17th / 18th century

Here he is depicted with four harms, seated on a double lotus base, with the legs in the lotus position (padmasana), the main hands are joined in the gesture of respect or greeting (anjalimudra), while the secondary ones hold a rosary (mala) and a lotus flower. It is richly dressed, the head crowned and the body adorned with anklets, bracelets, necklaces and earrings, on which are housed small bezels of semi-precious stones.
