A MILLEFLEURS PORCELAIN VASE, China, Republic Period (1912-1949)

With a globular body, raised foot, narrow and high neck culminating in a bell-shaped mouth on which are applied two turquoise-coloured handles in the shape of stylised qilongs, it is well painted all over the body with the classic mille-fleurs motif; in the centre within two circular reserves it is decorated with characters in gardens; in the centre of the base it bears the apocryphal seal mark in iron red of the Qianlong Emperor.
