A PAIR OF FAMILLE ROSE VASES, China, Republic period (1912-1949)

Shaped like pseudo meiping with elongated neck with finely molded bat-like handles, they are well decorated on the body with two phoenixes and two cranes, four small birds and a duck among rocks, peonies and trees; on the back they have inscriptions and all over the body bear iron-red and gilt marks of Emperor Qianlong; the scene is enclosed by two bands of encre de chine and iron-red with floral, greek, ruyi, lace and bat motifs; in the center of the base enclosed by a wide ring foot they bear the apocryphal four-character blue undercover marks of Emperor Qianlong.
