A BLACK LACQUER JUBAKO, Japan, Edo period, ca. 1700

Rectangular in shape, slightly curved, with crests interspersed with karakusa motifs. The interior features rich e-nashiji and mura-nashiji, with the lower compartment equipped with two loose metal rings to accommodate orange silk cords with tassels.
