A BLUE AND WHITE 'LOTUS' PORCELAIN BOWL, China, Kangxi mark and period (1661-1722)

Finely painted with a vivid underglaze blue both inside and outside with lotus scroll, at the center of the base it features the six-character underglaze blue mark of Emperor Kangxi within a double circle.

A pair of bowls with this decoration is illustrated by J. Ayers in The Baur Collection, Chinese Ceramics, Geneva, 1974, vol. 4, A510 and A511, where the author cites similar examples in the National Palace Museum in Taipei and the Musée Guimet in Paris (accession number G4197).
