AN EXCEPTIONAL LAPISLAZZULI VASE, China, Qing dynasty (1644-1911)

It is magnificently carved and engraved in a robust, sinuous form that rests on a raised foot and features two elephant-head-shaped handles on the sides. The body is well-decorated with taotie and archaic symbols; both the body and the lid are hollowed out.
