A GILT-BRONZE AND POLYCROME FIGURE OF VAJRAYOGINI, Tibet, 19th / 20th century

Holding a kartika in her right hand and drinking blood from a kapala with her left hand. With her right foot, she treads on the chest of Kālarātri, and with her left foot, she treads on the forehead of Bhairava. Her semi-nude body is adorned with jewelry, and she wears a necklace of fifty skulls and a crown with five skulls on her head. The figure stands on a lotus base from which rises a flame, at the center of which is a medallion bearing characters in Sanskrit. The sculpture shows traces of gilding and polychrome enamels.
