Standing on a lotus flower base with engraved petals, the right hand is raised in abhaya mudra, and the left hand is in varada mudra. Wears a wide, draped robe intricately engraved with flowers. On the head brings a diadem, and wears earrings.
This style is derived from the Buddhist sculpture of ancient Gandhara and early Central Asian cultures, where images of the Buddha reflected classical Greco-Roman influence, especially in the flowing drapery.
Provenance: from the Ullman collection, Italy.
