A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF YAMANTAKA AND VAJRABHAIRAVA, China, 19th / 20th century

In ecstatic union and standing in alidhasana on trampled figures atop a lotus base, the thirty-four-armed yidam is depicted with a fierce buffalo head, flaming hair braided into thick strands, and six fierce human faces encircling the back. This is surmounted by an additional fierce human face and the head of Manjushri.
